INDIVIDUAL THERAPY
Individual therapy in Los Angeles for the patterns that keep following you.
Ilana Grines, LMFT, provides individual therapy in Los Angeles and virtually throughout California for adults navigating anxiety, relationship patterns, identity, sexuality, self-worth, and major life transitions.
YOU MAY BE HERE BECAUSE
You can explain why you feel this way, but insight alone has not changed what happens in the moment.
WHAT WE MAY WORK ON
Therapy that looks beneath the symptom without losing sight of your actual life.
You do not need to fit neatly into one diagnosis or arrive with a perfectly defined goal. We can begin with what feels hardest right now and build from there.
Anxiety and Overthinking
Understand the fear, vigilance, perfectionism, or need for control beneath persistent worry and learn to respond with more flexibility.
Relationship Patterns
Explore attachment, conflict, people-pleasing, emotional shutdown, dating patterns, and the ways earlier relationships continue to shape current ones.
Identity and Self-Worth
Make room for questions about who you are, what you want, and how to live with greater self-trust rather than constant self-correction.
Sexuality and Sexual Shame
Talk openly about desire, pleasure, orientation, body image, sexual concerns, or beliefs that make it difficult to feel at home in your sexuality.
Boundaries and People-Pleasing
Learn to recognize your limits, tolerate the discomfort of disappointing others, and communicate needs without abandoning yourself.
Life Transitions
Navigate changes in relationships, family, parenthood, work, health, identity, grief, or the sense that your life no longer fits the person you are becoming.
MY APPROACH
Compassionate does not have to mean vague.
Therapy with me is warm, conversational, and direct. We will make sense of the patterns that protect you while also being honest about the ways those same patterns may now be limiting you.
The goal is not to become endlessly self-optimized. It is to build a steadier relationship with yourself so you can make choices with more clarity, tolerate difficult emotions, and feel more present in your life and relationships.
AFFIRMING INDIVIDUAL THERAPY
Care that makes room for your full identity.
My practice is LGBTQ+ affirming and inclusive of diverse identities, sexualities, genders, bodies, cultures, and relationship structures. You will not be expected to shrink important parts of yourself to make your experience easier to understand.
WHAT TO EXPECT
A clear, collaborative beginning.
Free Consultation
We begin with a complimentary 15 to 30-minute consultation so you can briefly share what is bringing you in, ask questions, and get a sense of whether working together feels right.
Initial Sessions
We clarify what feels most important, identify recurring patterns, and begin building a shared understanding of what you want from therapy.
Ongoing Work
Sessions balance reflection, emotional processing, honest feedback, and practical changes you can begin carrying into daily life.
COMMON QUESTIONS
What clients often want to know before starting.
Do I need to know exactly what I want to work on?
No. Many people begin therapy knowing only that something feels off, repetitive, overwhelming, or no longer sustainable. We can clarify the direction together.
Is individual therapy only for anxiety or depression?
No. Individual therapy can also support relationship patterns, identity, sexuality, boundaries, self-worth, life transitions, family dynamics, and the desire to feel more grounded in yourself.
Can we talk about sex in individual therapy?
Yes. Sexuality, desire, shame, pleasure, body image, orientation, and sexual concerns can all be explored openly and without judgment.
Do you provide LGBTQ+ affirming therapy?
Yes. LGBTQ+ affirming care is integrated throughout my practice rather than treated as a separate or secondary service.
Do you offer virtual individual therapy throughout California?
Yes. Virtual therapy is available to adults located anywhere in California. In-person sessions are also available in Los Angeles.
How do I get started?
Schedule a complimentary consultation to discuss what is bringing you to therapy, ask practical questions, and decide whether working together feels like a good fit.
STARTING THERAPY
You do not need a perfectly organized explanation of what is wrong.
Schedule a complimentary 15 to 30-minute consultation to talk about what you are navigating and whether individual therapy feels like the right next step.
